Our Easter Weekend

I know I've been lacking in the posting department this week. My SIL D and her 2 girls have been visiting from Louisiana. They left for home this morning. And I've been keeping Baby Boy as usual. My apologies though. =)

Here's some pics from our Easter Weekend!:

(Yes, he's wrapped up in a pink blanket, lol)

I only added this one because of how much Princess is starting to look like me!

Why are Men so Disgusting?

My house was pretty darn clean yesterday evening. I had cleaned all day.
So why, in the first hours of being up this morning, did I find the following:

1. Several BIG toenail clippings in the living room floor.

2. A sink full of water, facial hair and shaving cream. (Yes, the water was still there too.)

3. Dirt Boot tracks across my carpet.

4. A plate with pizza crusts and an empty beer can on the coffee table.

And....

5. A pair of underwear on my front porch!

Why?

Gettin Ready for Easter

With SIL J [who lives in FL], SIL B, and 2 neices B&B [who all live in LA] coming to visit for the Easter Holiday, I decided that me & the kids go ahead and have our Easter Fun today. That leaves the rest of the weekend for visiting.

So, here's some pics of our activities so far today:

(LittleMan already looks like an unhappy-cellphone carrying-teenager here, lol)

{Our cake: it has colorful sprinkles on the inside & out}

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday!!

Oh . My . Shoe

After the long post about organizing Princess' room I wrote over at I Wanna Be That Mom! I found out today while cleaning that Princess has lost 3 shoes over the past 2 weeks.

One shoe is a house shoe, not a big deal.

One shoe was one of a pair that is too small and was about to be passed to SIL B. Again, not such a big deal.

The other shoe? you ask. Is from a pair that I just bought. 2. weeks. ago.

We've had this problem before with shoe(s) mysteriously disappearing. Where are these shoes going? Are they on a mission to find the socks that always seem to come up missing in the dryer?

You know the ones. You distinctively remember taking them out of the washer and putting them in the dryer. Yet when the dryer kicks off and you unload it, there is one sock MIA.

I have looked in every nook & cranny for this one shoe. I have found lots of toys that's been missing, tons of socks, pennies, food wrappers, crayons. But No Shoe.

*Wiping the sweat from my brow*

With my luck, it will probably find it's way home after she outgrows that size.

DixieChick Totally Rocks!

DixieChick just called me over to award me with this award:

It just might help my inner sass come back alive!!!

and I would like to pass it along to Random mommy, who is a fellow sassy Alabamian. And to Catwoman, the sassy chick from Texas. Both of which, I love to read!

DixieChick also gave me this:

So for you DixieChick I have this:

A Bad Dream

Last night, I was dreaming of being back in high school.

I was at dance practice (even though my school didn't offer dance in real life) when all of a sudden some guy grabbed me by the throat. Not like both hands around my throat, but with 2 fingers and was pinching my esophagus.

The pain was so extreme, I woke up literally crying.

I found I was laying on my pillow funny and it caused my throat to actually hurt so bad, it made it's way into my dream.

So weird.

Spring has Sprung

or has it?

It is currently 46 degrees here

T-Ball Tuesday

LittleMan has been bestowed with the position of Pitcher on his T-Ball team. He is thrilled. And I am thrilled for him. It is the most coveted position of them all.

Now, they don't actually pitch during T-Ball, but they need someone there to catch the ball. LittleMan's pretty darn good at catching, and he's getting better at every practice.

His throwing, however, needs work. He can throw f-a-s-t but it doesn't always go where he wants it to. His coach is trying to teach him to take more time to get it to the base, instead of rushing and throwing a wild ball.

He is one of 2 of his team that can hit the ball to the fence. Not fly balls, ground balls, but they are moving so fast, they almost always make it to the outfield before anyone can even touch it.

And, running the bases, there's no competition. He is the fastest runner on the team. And 95% of the time, he remembers to touch all the bases. =)

Baseball seems to be his sport. Now, Bring on them Pro Scouts!

What my Mom taught me.

[Some of this could possibly be a little altered from the actuality of it, but I was six, so it's hard to remember. It's pretty darn close though.]

November 6, 1986 - When I was six years old and just started Kindergarten, my Mom had a terrible car wreck. She was in a brand new Chevy Cavalier, that she hadn't even made the first payment on, and her tie rod snapped. She flipped down a hill eleven times; coming half-way out of the sun roof somewhere around the seventh flip, as the car flipped over on top of her, breaking her back.

They say she died on the scene twice and was brought back by a wonderful lady. Overall she broke: her back, both kneecaps, her leg, her hip, her arm, her nose and she had a chunk of skull broke loose at the top of her forehead. [The chuck of skull part we didn't find out about until I was around 14, more about that later.] [We also found out sometime later, that it altered her mental state, blinded her in one eye, and she couldn't smell anymore]

My Mom taught me .. Shit happens.

They airlifted her to Memphis TN. She was in the hospital for three months. I was unaware of ANYTHING for the first month and a half. I was shuffled from family member to family member, as my Granny, Papaw, Uncle, and Aunt Vicki was hundreds of miles away at the hospital.

My Mom taught me ... absence makes the heart grow fonder.

After about a month, my Papaw and Aunt Vicki came home to me. But I still didn't know where Mommy was. My aunt Vicki took care of me like I was her own, and she was only 18 years old at the time.

I remember being so frustrated that no one would tell me where my Mom was, I took some scissors and gaped my hair up. It wasn't long after that, they told me a version of what happen. They took me to the hospital to see my Mom, who after months of being in the hospital, still had 2 black eyes. I remember burying my face in Aunt Vicki's shoulder, afraid of what I was about to see.

But she was ALIVE!

My Mom taught me Bravery.

When she got to come home from the hospital, we had to live with my Grandparents because Mom had to wear a back brace and couldn't take care of herself, much less take care of me. We lived there for years I remember.

My Mom taught me about patience ... even though I don't have any. {lol}

Fast forward years later, they found the hole in her head and the piece of skull had slid down and settled into her sinus cavity. She had surgery to repair it on January 14, 1995. They did surgery where they had to peel her face down to get the bone out. Then they placed a metal plate over the hole. I remember feeding her jello at the hospital.

My Mom taught me strength.

Over the years, I moved out of the house away from my Mom several times. As I said before, her mental state had been altered, she was still very smart, but had the competency of a 16 year old. We fought like sisters. I lived with Aunt Vicki for a while, my Grandparents for a while. But I always ended back with my Mom.

My Mom taught me Unconditional Love.

Saturday Rodeo

The rodeo was fun. The kids enjoyed it, except that Princess had a tummy ache & some poopy problems. Other than that, everything went well.
It. Was. Freakin. Cold. Though.

LittleMan rode the mechanical bull again. This time they actually turned it up and bucked him around. We went to a different bull this time though, one inside, because. It. Was. Freakin. Cold.

Hubby bought me my centerpiece that I've been wanting for my kitchen table. I had found a similar one online, but it cost over $100! This one didn't.

And we won't go back to the 4pm show again. It was shorter and when we left ... at 630 ... I felt like I had just got there.

Next year, it's back to the 8pm show. The only reason we opted for the 4pm was because we brought Princess this year. It was her first time. =)

But next year, yeah, 8pm. It may end late, but we're gonna get a hotel room.

T-Ballin'

Yesterday was LittleMan's first T-Ball practice of the new season. He did awesome!

He hits farther than any other kid on his team. And throws better. And runs faster.

I have a very talented kid!!

But I am a little partial. =)

The coach did comment how fast he ran though.

It was a great practice and he loved being back on the field.

His next practice is Tuesday.

Well ...

You can scratch #1 from my Bucket List.

I have no desire to go anywhere near a horse from now on, much less not be afraid of them.

Hubby has LittleMan fill up the horses' water troughs everyday as part of his chores. Mainly because it's after dark when Hubby gets home from work.

Well yesterday, they didn't need filled and LittleMan took it upon himself to go out in the pasture and lead his horse around.

Zip, Hubby's stud horse, charged at LittleMan & Bandit, knocking LittleMan to the ground. He didn't kick or step on LittleMan, but he left skid marks all over his belly, some on his hip, one on his back and several up his right arm.

LittleMan had to walk all the way back to the house by himself because I didn't hear him hollering, I was in the house feeding Baby Boy.

Needless to say I was very emotional ... I was upset for LittleMan, and extremely pissed off at the horse. And at Hubby because he knows I'd rather the kids not be around horses. But I've let them grow up around them because of Hubby's wishes.

This is the very reason I don't like going around horses. Even if Zip got spooked and didn't mean to hurt LittleMan, he did. This horse, Zip, we've had for years and Hubby trusts completely. But just imagine what he could do if he was doing it intentionally.

My poor baby.

So, I officially give up on getting comfortable with horses. I don't care about it anymore.

Bucket List

My Bucket List:

1. Overcome my fear of horses - Yes, you read that right. I am afraid of horses. Yes, Me, the woman with a cowboy husband and cowboy son and three horses in the family. Don't confuse this with the dislike of horses ... I very much like to look at horses, take pictures of them and sometimes even pet them, if they are on the other side of a fence. And I have ridden them, just not without the feeling that my heart might actually bounce out of my chest at any given moment.

2. Get Healthier - I am an extremely picky eater. Always have been, always will be. But that doesn't mean I should have goldfish for breakfast and cookies for lunch. Yes, I have went there. Plus, with all my health problems, I need all the help I can get. I need to make myself cut out all the junk. And I will have to MAKE myself start exercising more. More? What am I saying. I will have to make myself start exercising, period.

3. Learn Patience - I have two beautiful kids ... that drive me nuts. Why? Because I can't count to 10 and hold it in. e.g. I didn't grow up with brothers or sisters, so it's hard to realize that my 6 year old just doesn't automatically know how to act sometimes. I need to teach him, and my daughter. I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TEACH THEM, without breaking down.

4. Actually becoming a organized grown-up. - Oh I used to be organized. Before I got married. Before I had kids. Before I lost my identity. I was the most organized teenager you'd ever see. What happen? I grew up and had a family. I know there's time here somewhere to get organized and stay that way. But organizing four people instead of one, that's what I don't know.

5. Learn to cook with fresh spices. - I can cook pretty well. I just don't have the time or skill to cook all fancy. But I could!

6. Go on a really great family vacation. - We've never taken the kids on vacation. Hell, we haven't been on a vacation since our honeymoon. That's almost nine years! Yeah count them, nine whole years without a trip to the beach, or to the mountains, or anywhere. Family visits & family reunions not included.

7. Go to College - Nope, I never went. Thought I'd take a year off. Uh huh. Ended up married instead. After two years, I was settled down in my married life, then I got pregnant with LittleMan. Then three years after that, got pregnant with Princess.

8. Learn a foreign language. - I took a year of Spanish in high school. I still remember a little of what I learned. But I would love to actually speak Spanish. Especially in today's USA.

9. Write a book. - I don't know what about ... yet. But I've always wanted to be a writer.

10. Really and Truly be Happy with Myself - That's a long road.

The End.

Homemade Salisbury Steaks

I got this recipe from a friend on CafeMom. I have made it several times and the whole family LOVES IT!
I pair it up with garlic mashed potatoes, corn (or corn on the cob) and rolls.

mmmmmmmmm
Yummy

HOMEMADE SALISBURY STEAK

Ingredients:
1 lb. Ground beef
one egg
3/4 to 1 whole sleeve of crackers, crushed (I used the round ones)
1/2 t. salt
pepper
1/2 c. water
10 1/2 oz. can of beef gravy

Procedure:
Mix beef with crackers, egg, salt and pepper in a bowl. Form patties, set aside.
Combine water & gravy. Put in skillet over medium heat to warm. Then add meat patties.
Cover & SIMMER (very important that you turn it down to simmer) for 30 minutes, turning over half way through.

Sweet Repeats

Today was the first public day of Sweet Repeats. I had Princess & Baby Boy with me.

I showed up at the shop where they hold Sweet Repeats at 9:45am. The paper said it opened to the public at 10am.

Well, first, the paper was wrong. It opened at 9am.

Then when I got inside, Baby Boy was okay for about 10-15 minutes. He then decided that he was tired of this place and continued to throw a humongous fit for about 30 minutes until he fell asleep.

I do have to say that this Sweet Repeats was a major letdown. They didn't have a great selection like they usually do. I only got LittleMan 1 outfit, 1 shirt and 1 pair of jeans.

I bought Baby Boy & his brother Boy an outfit each, (A is suppose to pay me back.)

Here's how disappointing it was ... I only spent $80, including what I got for Boy & Baby Boy! For those of you who "know" me, know this is truly amazing. Usually I spend pretty much everything I have in my pocket.

$80 was nothing.

And to top things off ?? I bought Princess a $3 purple hair bow, and they forgot to put it in my stuff. So I went back in to look for it, it was gone, the girl that checked me out was gone somewhere, and the girl that helped her was there and said she didn't even see me with a hair bow, even though it was the first thing she took the price off of.

EEEEEERRRRRRRGGGGGGGG

Not good.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another note:
We are suppose to get BAD weather again tonight/tomorrow morning. Like bad enough for the school to go ahead and announce they will be delaying for 2 hours.
I don't know what's worse. Knowing a Bad Storm is coming, or getting surprised by one.
Please keep us in your thoughts & prayers. =)
Happy March!
For the weather to have been the way it has been for the past week, it sure is a beautiful day today! It's sunny and pushing 70 degrees.
How weird is our weather?
This week:
Monday: "A" called and told me that Baby Boy's brother had the flu and that her sis "K" would be dropping Baby Boy off this week.
Tuesday: We had some pretty bad storms roll though early in the morning. School didn't open until 10am, but we made it through okay. Our power was off for a while though.
A dropped off Baby Boy for a few hours while she helped her in laws, trees fell on their house & both vehicles during the storms. Baby Boy was running a fever.
My new PINK cell phone came in. I called to get it activated & it messed our pay plan up BIG time. Since I now do not have a Nextel phone, but a Sprint, me & Hubby can't share the family plan anymore .... eeeeerrrrgggggg. And then Nextel couldn't change Hubby's plan because he was already on day 3 of the cycle.... eeeeeerrrrrrrggggggggg AGAIN! So we are going to be paying about double $$ the next bill.
Wednesday: Baby Boy's fever had gotten pretty high during the night before, so I didn't have him Wednesday. This is the day it snowed. Not a lot but definitely strange for the temperatures we've had lately. Me and Princess went and printed the picture that we decided on for Photogenic in the Easter Pageant.
Thursday: I still didn't watch Baby Boy, I guess A decided just to keep him home since his brother couldn't go to Preschool until Friday due to his flu. So I had the day to myself & Princess. We took the Easter Pageant entry form, photogenic picture & fees and turned them in to the school. Everyone made over her and her picture.... she's so gorgeous ... she'll win for sure ... awe, look at her putting chap stick on. She LOVED it!
Friday: Friday was Leap Day. I did watch Baby Boy this day. He did excellent. His doctor put him on some medicine for Acid Reflux & changed him to Sensitive Formula. He's like a different child! We had a great day until the evening, when he got fussy. My SIL R was here, so she wanted to walk him.... something I didn't want to start up. But when that didn't work (lol) we turned out all the lights, turned on some light classical music and rocked him in his car seat [which he LOVES to sit in]. It only took about 10 minutes and he was asleep! AHHH
Today: Hubby & LittleMan went horse riding, so me & Princess went & got McDonald's and took it to the park, so we could watch the ducks while we ate. I tried to get her to go into the playground and play, but I think there were too many children there, because she wouldn't go in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sweet Repeats is opening to the public on Monday. I CANNOT WAIT. For those of you who do not know what Sweet Repeats is, it is a consignment event that offers gently used baby & children's clothing and toys, shoes, etc. It only happens twice a year. October they sell Fall/Winter Apparel. And March they sell Spring/Summer apparel.

I don't know if I have Baby Boy Monday or not. But I will be there when they open the doors! Which reminds me, I need to go get A's March work schedule.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Oh, and here's the picture that we chose for Photogenic::
